Skeleton Key Games releases e-Adventure Tiles: Arcane Express

Skeleton Key Games cartographer Edward Bourelle had created a new downloadable PDF that's worth a look for Eberron DMs planning cross-country adventures:

e-Adventure Tiles: Arcane Express

The $7.99 PDF features 25 full-color pages illustrating the interior (and roof) of an enchanted train. In addition to the page-sized maps, it includes smaller map components that can be used to plan out the design of the train. Its one-inch squares are the appropriate scale for fantasy miniatures, including the D&D Miniatures skirmish game.

Mark of Heroes Campaign Site Preview

Happy Holidays! The RPGA Mark of Heroes campaign's official site should go online in the first week of December. As a special holiday treat, Wizards of the Coast has decided to put up a very detailed preview of the D&D Campaign. Included are the campaign rules, character, progress and magic item sheets.

In addition, all of the fastplay characters are now available! The fastplay characters are:

  • Shifter Barbarian

  • Gnome Cleric

  • Human Fighter

  • Elf Ranger

  • Changeling Rouge

  • Kobold Wizard

No dragonmarked characters, but we do have a kobold!

Though it's just a preview, there is one piece missing:

If you play a fastplay character with that miniature, it unlocks a bonus that works exactly like a Campaign Card but is tailored for that particular character.

These bonuses are not described in the fastplay sheets as they are in the LotGR campaign.

All of the miniatures are from the current set (Aberrations), although the Man-at-Arms for the Human Fighter is a resculpt of a Harbinger miniatures. The Breland Ledger will investigate to see if both figures can be used. Four new fastplay characters will be introduced when Deathknell is released in March of 2005.

Marked For Death "Novel Approach" Dragon Article Info

Matt Forbeck, author of the upcoming novel Marked for Death, has made a post on his site on an upcoming issue of Dragon that will include stats for his book. Here's a snippet:

I also revised a "Novel Approach" article about the book for an upcoming issue of Dragon Magazine. This comes complete with stats for a smaller, party-sized airship and a living fireball spell. This article should appear in the same issue as a prefatory short story that introduces four of the characters from Marked for Death as they investigate a mysterious crater on the edges of the Mournland.

Product Catalog Update at WotC

New products have been posted at the WotC catalog! Pictures are not yet available for the Eberron DM Screen or Eberron Player Character Sheets, but two new sourcebooks are detailed:

The Five Nations

"A geographical sourcebook for play in the Five Nations of the Eberron world.

Five Nations offers players a rich source of information about playing and dealing with characters from the Five Nations of the Eberron world. As any play in the Eberron world is likely to involve the Five Nations or characters from them, the book is useful to anyone involved in an Eberron campaign. The individual nation chapters include information on culture, geography (including maps), guilds and factions and, new prestige classes, equipment, creatures, spells, magic items, and adventure sites."

Explorer’s Handbook

"The ultimate sourcebook for players wishing to explore the world of Eberron.

The Explorer’s Handbook showcases the multi-continental aspect of the Eberron setting. The chapter on travel discusses instantaneous and played-out travel and provides deck plans for airships, the lightning rail, and galleons, plus other methods of conveyance. A chapter on Explorer’s Essentials offers information on travel papers, preassembled equipment kits, how to join the Wayfarers’ Foundation, and more. This handbook will encourage you to explore the entire world rather than remain fixed in one region."

Dragon 326 and Upcoming Issues in 2005

Erik Mona, editor of Dragon and Dungeon magazines, has posted on EN World about Eberron and Dragon magazine:

I've just approved 5-6 Eberron articles by Keith Baker and 4-6 significant Forgotten Realms articles by Ed Greenwood to be published over the course of 2005.

We're also taking a serious look at all of the new "departments" that were introduced in Dragon 323 and will be cutting some of them over the course of the next few issues.

In the same thread, EN World member thalmin posts some info about issue 326:

The Ecology of the Rakshasa actually does have a sidebar on "variant breeds." The first is Rakshasas in Eberron, the second is Rakshasas in Monster Manual III.
